Whether you're a customer on Groomy or a salon owner on Groomy Business, you can permanently delete your account and personal data at any time. There are two ways to do it: from inside the app, or by request if you no longer have it installed.
1. Delete in the app
The two apps don't handle this the same way. Here's what actually happens in each.
If you use Groomy (customers)
Open Settings
Go to Profile → Settings and select Delete Account, at the bottom of the list.
Clear your bookings
If you have upcoming bookings, you'll be told how many. Continuing cancels any you created yourself. Bookings someone else made for you aren't affected.
Tell us why
Pick a reason for leaving.
Confirm
Tap Delete My Account and confirm. Your account and every piece of your personal data are deleted right then. There's no undo.
If you use Groomy Business (salon owners)
Open Settings
Go to Settings and select Delete Account.
Resolve active bookings first
If your salon has upcoming bookings, you'll need to cancel or complete them yourself before you can continue. Deletion won't cancel them for you.
Tell us why
Pick a reason for leaving.
Confirm
Tap Delete My Account and confirm. Your account is deactivated immediately, then permanently deleted after 30 days. You can email support any time in that window to call it off.
2. Request deletion without the app
If you no longer have the app installed, you can request deletion by emailing contact@groomyapp.in from the address on file, or including the phone number your account is registered under. Include the words “Delete my account” in your message. We'll verify the request matches the account, then apply the same outcome described above, immediate for Groomy, a 30-day window for Groomy Business, once it's confirmed.
We verify web-based requests against your registered phone number before acting on them, so your account isn't deleted by someone else impersonating you.
3. What gets deleted
If you use Groomy (customers)
- Your personal profile: name, phone number, profile photo, and saved location.
- Your sign-in access: you won't be able to log back into the deleted account.
- Any active bookings on your account are cancelled as part of deletion.
If you use Groomy Business (salon owners)
- Your personal profile: name, phone number, and profile photo.
- Your business profile and salon listing, including its services, categories, and staff.
- Your sign-in access: you won't be able to log back into the deleted account.
- Deletion doesn't cancel bookings for you, you'll need to clear any active ones before you're able to start.
4. What's retained, and why
Booking records are kept for up to 1 year after each appointment date, even after your account is deleted, whether you're a customer or a salon owner. This is standard practice for appointment-based services and covers accounting, dispute-resolution, and legal record-keeping needs. These records are not usable to sign back in or rebuild your profile or business listing.
If you use Groomy Business, we also keep your phone number, the date you requested deletion, and the reason you gave for 30 days after the request, for audit purposes. This is separate from the booking records above and is removed once the 30 days pass.
5. Timeline
If you use Groomy (customers)
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Immediately | Your account and personal data are deleted for good. Bookings you created are cancelled. |
If you use Groomy Business (salon owners)
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Immediately | Your account is deactivated and you're signed out. Bookings aren't cancelled automatically, resolve them before this step. |
| Within 30 days | If you haven't contacted support to cancel, your profile, business listing, services, and staff are permanently deleted. |
6. Changed your mind?
This depends on which app you're on.
If you use Groomy Business, you have 30 days after requesting deletion to change your mind. Email contact@groomyapp.in within that window and we'll reverse it before your data is permanently removed.
If you use Groomy, deletion happens the moment you confirm it in the app. There's no recovery window, once it's done, it's done.
